A slow start to the day with eggs and tea to get us going…
Walked about 8 blocks through to Union Square and then another 9 blocks to Madison Square Park. Picked up some yummy Vietnamese rolls from a hole in the wall (Num Pang) at East 12th Street and after walking some 18 blocks saw us having lunch in Washington Square Park watching the world go by.
Full but energized ready to walk some more, we headed down into the East Village and wandered around taking it all in. A quick stop into Best Buy to pick up some much needed new electronics and then another million blocks or so, saw us back on 19th and homeward bound.
A super quick change and we headed downtown to the Meat Packing district (on foot again and unfortunately this time in heels – Bel not the boys!) We met Daryl, Kevin and Rob down at the Standard beer garden. The boys tucked into 1.5 litre steins, however the only problem was they didn’t stop at one! Leaving the standard and crossing the road we were face to face with ‘Hogs & Heffers’, we decided that a visit was essential, although somewhat were more excited than others after all this place was the inspiration for Coyote Ugly complete with dusty old bras behind the bar (and heffers too!) James and Bel challenged some of Houston’s finest fire chiefs at pool and managed to take out the game including their hats! Bel was up on a stool and got in trouble from the bar heffers for not keeping her feet on the ground, unfortunately that was the inspiration for the bar heffers to jump up on the bar and do their thiiiiiiing. When some of the other customers took that as a chance to get up and have their 15 seconds of fame on the bar too…it was at that point Bel was dragged out reluctantly but commenting that ‘she would be back’.
More walking home (still in heels) and we stopped in at Room Service for a late dinner, very yummy Thai, will definitely go back there. Finally home and exhausted – no wonder it’s the early hours again.
